    Dear Sir or Madam,

There is a lot of work to be done with Haiti’s most valuable assets, its children! In light of the recent event that has ravaged Haiti on January 12, 2010, it is now much more obvious to see that throughout every community around that country, young boys and girls are left on their own to locate their own food, find forms of recreation, and make new friends. Starting from the Physical terrain or infrastructure to the availability of socio-cultural resources, there lacks an apparatus answering the immediate needs of youths. The people of Port-au-Prince and other affected areas of Haiti suffered a great loss. They lost many lives and most importantly their sense of security.
I am Rose-Marie Chaperon, a US citizen; residing in Kansas City, MO, I am the founder of S.H.E.N.A- HAITI. (Safe Haven Education, Nutrition Association of Haiti). I am writing to ask you for your support in setting up a youth club in a disused workshop in Les Cayes Haiti.
Last May, after a very long stressful visit in Haiti, I realized the need to help the Haitian school age youth survive in a world that has been unfair to their development. The entire country is lacking the most basic nutritional need, because the price of the food and gas are so high. Everywhere you go, you hear the average citizen complaining about how difficult it is to feed their children. For example the gas price went up to $6.20 US dollars since the aftermath of the earthquake. SHENA-HAITI goal is to reduce the burden of these families by providing a safe haven for school age children during the school year.

SHENA HAITI is set out to be a home away from home by providing young boys and girls somewhere safe to go where there is none and something to do where there is nothing to do. SHENA-HAITI is there to show young people that someone cares about them and the goal here is to help the youth feel important by helping to put their dreams within reach while giving them a place to belong. The end goal of SHENA-HAITI is to provide developmental opportunities for a significant number of disadvantage young students because of their current circumstance.
With your help we can give a promising tomorrow to these youths. It only cost $5.00 a day to feed two children in Haiti, which in the states that’s the price of a sandwich. Please give a promising tomorrow to these children. No amount is too small; we simply need your caring heart. With your help, one less child will be privy of a well-balanced meal, and a place to hang out after school.
Our Mission Statement: The mission of S.H.E.NA-HAITI is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible members of society. S.H.E.N.A- HAITI strives to enhance and strengthens the lives of school- age children throughout the school year by providing a safe haven through daily education, nutrition and a place to belong.
Our Vision: To build upon and expand the legacy of providing exceptional development and enrichment programs for Les Cayes Haiti’s youth, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, so that they may realize their full potential.
Our Value: Everything we do is dedicated to creating positive experiences that promote and instill our core values of safety, integrity, respect, opportunity, and passion.

Our Promise: Our Promise to Youth: To provide a safe, positive place and have significant impact in their lives. Our Promise to the Community: To uphold high ethical standards, especially in overseeing our finances, reporting data on membership and being good stewards of resources invested by our community.

I want to thank you for taking your time to read this letter and I look forward to hearing from you. A receipt will be provided once your donation has been received. Thank you for giving these children a place to belong.

    Yours faithfully,
