Ted Waitt is the founder and former CEO of Gateway, Inc. which has changed how people used technology and personal computers to work, live, play, and interact with the rest of the world. Today, Ted Waitt is CEO of the Avalon Capital Group, a private investment company with a diverse portfolio in healthcare, real estate, finance, renewable energy, and technology. As a successful businessman with civic responsibility, Ted Waitt has founded and remains an active member of several philanthropic organizations.

  • The Waitt Family Foundation: The Waitt Family Foundation was founded by Ted Waitt and the Waitt Family in 1993 to provide funding for research and education projects geared toward improving humankind’s knowledge of history, culture, and scientific exploration. Through the contributions of The Waitt Foundation, Ted Waitt has become one of the top 50 philanthropic contributors in Ameria.
  • The Waitt Institute: The Waitt Institute was founded in 2005 as the combined efforts of the Waitt Institute for Discovery and the Waitt Institute for Violence Prevention. Ted Waitt’s involvement with the Waitt Institute of Discovery is an effort to fund research and education programs to deepen human understanding and scientific research and development. Ted Waitt is the Founder and Chairman of the Waitt Institute for Violence Prevention, which focuses on preventing domestic violence and funding community development programs to build stronger families and supportive neighborhoods. Ted Waitt serves as the Chairman of the Founding Fathers campaign of the Family Violence Prevention Fund.
  • Other Philanthropy: Ted Waitt established the Digital Divide Fund at the San Diego Foundation, which provides organizations and projects with grants to bridge the digital divide in America. Ted Waitt also serves on the the Advisory Council of the National Geographic Society. Finally, Ted Waitt is Vice Chairman of the Board for the Jonas Salk Institute for Biological Studies.
