Stephen Schwarzman is the co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of the Blackstone Group, a leading global alternative asset manager and provider of financial advisory services. Stephen Schwarzman has been involved in every aspect of Blackstone since the firm’s founding in 1985. Founded originally with only a handful of people, the Blackstone Group has grown exponentially over the past few years and now houses over 52 partners, 750 employees, and a diverse range of companies in its portfolio. Stephen Schwarzman’s Blackstone Group continues to expand as a private equity buyout company and has garnered national and international attention. Stephen Schwarzman’s profitability has also brought him considerable attention in the media as a man of the moment. In the wake of his success, he has also been a noted contributor to a variety of philanthropic causes.

• Stephen Schwarzman has raised or contributed money to Phoenix House, the Red Cross, the Frick Collection, the Whitney Museum, the American Museum of Natural History, the Central Park Conservancy, the Asia Society, New York City Outward Bound, and the Inner-City Scholarship Fund.
• In addition, Stephen Schwarzman is a member of the board for the New York Public Library, the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, the New York City Ballet, and a Trustee for the Frick Collection.
• Stephen Schwarzman has also raised money for the American Jewish Committee and donated a new football stadium to Abington High School.
• Stephen Schwarzman is also the fifth Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
• In 2008, Stephen Schwarzman made a $100 million dollar donation to the New York Public Library. Stephen Schwarzman’s contribution will be used to transform the Central Library into an area for book borrowing and research. Stephen Schwarzman is also a trustee of the library. To honor the donor, the 1911 Beaux Arts structure on Fifth Avenue will be named the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. The structure is expected to be completed in 2014.
