Michael Milken Philanthropy
Born on the 4th of July in 1946 in Encino, California, Michael Robert Milken is a famous investor who made millions in his financial dealings. He is currently focused on active philanthropic efforts through his established charity organization.
As he battled cancer, Michael Milken realized that he had more to offer by serving other people than by just doing business. As a result, he formed the Milken Family Foundation. A business mogul as well as a philanthropist, Milken also spent his personal wealth in fighting his disease.
Although known for his conglomerate takeover deals, Michael Milken also spends his time and money in support of charities. Although he started doing humanitarian endeavors early in his career, it was not until the mid-90s that he was greatly acknowledged for his work.
In 1995, he donated $5 million to a Jewish secondary academic institution. When he found out about his advanced prostate cancer at 46, despite it going into remission, he wanted to change his life and to make others aware of such a disease. Later on, he developed an organization that helped raise money for research in cancer.
Apart from dedicating much of his life to the foundation, he also wrote a cookbook about healthy living in partnership with Beth Ginsberg.
