Li Ka Shing, one of the biggest business moguls in Asia, is a big supporter of education and healthcare. He established the Li Ka Shing Foundation during the early 1980s to address various issues related to education and healthcare causes.
The Li Ka Shing Foundation is based in Hong Kong and Canada. The foundation was initiated with a mission to “nurture a culture of giving in the society.” Considering medical care and education as two of the nation’s most important assets, Li Ka Shing devotes much of his time in supporting various initiatives that promote the development of several healthcare and education services.
The foundation primarily makes systematic donations to several cultural and community welfare projects in Hong Kong and Mainland China. The Li Ka Shing Foundation works with other charitable foundations in order to provide sponsorships, grants, and commitments to fund various charitable activities. So far, the foundation has given around $990 million worth of donations.
The Li Ka Shing Foundation basically focuses on capacity empowerment through education. In addition, the foundation also aims to build a caring society by pursuing numerous healthcare related projects.
The foundation has managed to initiate more than a few major projects in the field of education. Some of these major programs and projects include the Future Internet Technology Research Center, as well as the Millennium Study Tour. As for the medical field, the foundation has initiated the China Disabled Persons’ Foundation, Operation Smile, and Lifeline Express among others.
