British stock investor Sir John Templeton was one of the world’s well known philanthropists. He was born on the 29th of November 1912. As an investor and mutual fund pioneer, Sir John Templeton established the Templeton Growth Ltd in 1954. His investment fund was one of the first companies to invest in Japan sometime along the mid-1960s. Aside from pioneering mutual funds, Sir John Templeton was also known for acquiring 100 shares of each company for about $1 and managed to grow his earnings in four years.

As a philanthropist, John Templeton Foundation is dedicated to helping explore the core of spirituality and science. So far, the foundation has donated more than $3.6 million to the International Society for Science and Religion, a group that promotes and encourages the development of the dialogue between religion and science. Aside from this, the foundation also donated about $2 million to another similar organization, the Spiritual Enterprise Institute.
